Salary is determined on directly related experience supported by a service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date.

Position Summary
To assist in the attainment of District goals through the provision of effective and efficient grounds keeping services. Performs ongoing duties in the preparation and maintenance of all school grounds, facilities, fields and grounds equipment.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
- Valid Driver License with a good driving record (meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility by BISD Carrier).
- Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years lawn and garden experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Maintain physical competence to turn, twist and bend as required to operate equipment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds repeatedly.
- Must be team oriented.
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
- Operate all turf and lawn equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as well as make proper adjustments when needed.
- Adjust settings on irrigation control panels to coincide with field use and changing climate. Adjust sprinkler heads, discover leaks, and assist with repairs.
- Trim shrubs and trees in a timely manner to promote growth and improve appearance.
- Provide timely chemical applications such as fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides to promote growth and control weeds in turf and mulched areas.
- Care for seed, sod, plants, shrubs and trees to ensure new growth.
- Keep grounds free of trash, empty barrels, and remove items from grounds that can cause damage to district property.
- Work as needed on snow removal to get a building ready for operation, which may include early morning, late night, weekend, or holiday work.
- Attend meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.
- Work overtime as requested by supervisors or district administration.
- Be respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.
- Assist other areas when needed.
- Take appropriate precautions in extreme weather conditions to ensure personal safety, such as wearing appropriate clothing and taking appropriate water breaks.
- Dress and grooming should be appropriate. Wear proper uniform and name badge.
- Read and respond to email in a timely manner.
- Complete all required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding/use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide and/or out-of-state travel
