Position Summary

 

Under the direction of the Teaching & Learning Department and campus principal, an Instructional Coach will provide teacher support and training in the implementation of district-wide curriculum on BISD campuses. The Instructional Coach will assist in the development of curriculum-based assessments, monitor program implementation, coach teachers, train personnel, deliver demonstration lessons, lead data analysis, and model best practices to ensure the curriculum is implemented by effective, research-based teaching strategies.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Instruction

 

  1. Collaborate with campus/district leaders and colleagues to promote continuous improvement at the classroom, campus, and district levels, ensuring high levels of learning for all students.
  2. Support teacher teams in instructional planning processes and aligned instruction.
  3. Develop teacher understanding of TEKS and BISD curriculum.
  4. Support teachers in implementing strategies gained from professional learning into classroom instruction through ongoing interaction, reflection, and continuous improvement efforts.
  5. Support students in the development of content-area literacy skills.
  6. Observe, coach, and provide feedback to teachers regarding all aspects of instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment.
  7. Develop and provide effective professional learning to adult learners that include modeling of differentiated instruction (SIOP, GT, scaffolding, etc.).

 

 

 

Assessment

 

  1. Collaborate with content coordinators and campus supervising administrator(s) to ensure coaching impacts student achievement, with an intentional focus on closing student gaps.
  2. Utilize data from progress measures to meet the campus and district goals.
  3. Assist teacher teams within and across content areas in interpreting formative and summative assessment data, and use assessment information to adjust instruction and improve MTSS outcomes.
  4. Collaborate with teams using structured reflection to create targeted action steps that lead to personalized student learning opportunities.

 

Leadership

 

  1. Support, communicate, and model district priorities.
  2. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
  3. Attend professional learning to improve content, coaching, and leadership skills.
  4. Assist district and campus administration in identifying areas for growth.
  5. Participate in professional learning communities, data teams, and teacher collaboration meetings.
  6. Facilitate informal, job-embedded professional learning on an ongoing basis at the district and campus level, based on district, campus, and department goals.
  7. Exhibit a non-evaluative growth mindset and utilize coaching skills to help teachers and teams evaluate progress and set action steps for continuous improvement.
  8. Exhibit a high level of ethics and confidentiality regarding student and teacher records and classroom performance
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Grade: Teacher/Nurse/Librarian Scale

Bilingual Stipend: 3,500
