JOB SUMMARY:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the classroom and areas assigned. To support students in developing and achieving their full potential for academic growth, while providing an enriched learning environment.
**GUEST TEACHER SAFETY & SECURITY TRAINING will occur monthly during the school year from 8am-1pm at the Boerne ISD Central Office Administration Building. You will be notified via email if you are eligible to attend with the onboarding details. Attendance is required for final hire.**
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma
Work experience that can demonstrate ability to perform this role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree minimum.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
1) High School or College transcript - must be uploaded with the application. College transcript may be unofficial.
* Foreign country education credentials must be translated by an approved T.E.A. organization.
2) A resume - must be uploaded with the application.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of core academic subject assigned or ability to follow a lesson plan.
2. General knowledge of curriculum and student instruction.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Basic classroom and behavior management skills.
5. Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
6. Basic technology skills to include knowing how to login with username, regularly changing passwords, and checking your district email communication.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS :
1. Fingerprinting through TEA is required (applicant's expense/$48 approx.). More information will follow if selected for hire.
2. All hired applicants will attend onboarding/training. More information will follow if selected for hire.
3. Two references with email addresses.
4. You must provide unexpired I-9 documents for final hire (e.g. driver's license and social security card).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.
2. Ensure district policies are observed during all activities.
3. Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate based on the needs of the students
4. Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
5. Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storms, and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance, and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
6. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
7. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
8. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
9. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods, when necessary in accordance with district requirements.
10. Use technology to strengthen and enrich the learning process.
11. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations for classroom teachers.
12. Report for duty 30 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including the planning time of the teacher.
13. Do not leave children unattended at any time.
14. Ensure all classroom doors are locked and report suspicious activity/persons immediately.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
2. Make all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
3. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
4. Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
5. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or campus office staff.

2024-2025 PAY RATES:
Certified teacher $135 per day.
Non-certified $120 per day.
Long-term certified teacher rate is $185 per day starting on Day 11 consecutive (you must be a Texas certified teacher and the assignment must be for a certified teaching position). All long-term pay is retroactive to Day 1 in assignment.
Long-term non-certified teacher rate is $135 per day starting on Day 11 consecutive (e.g. instructional aide positions). All long-term pay is retroactive to Day 1 in assignment.
PLEASE NOTE:
- You are required to pass a background check and you must disclose any criminal convictions on your application. Conviction of a crime is not an automatic bar to employment. The District will consider the nature of the offense, the date of the offense, and the relationship between the offense and the position for which you are applying.
- For final hire and during the onboarding, you will be required to produce your unexpired employment authorization documents (e.g. driver’s license and social security card). You may provide a passport/passport card, however, a physical social security card is still required by the employer.
